Is it ok to pull the little thingy out of the piston and clean inside there?

If it's a stock FB caliper, make sure it slides freely on the alignment pins, too. Make sure there is grease in there.

yeah it's that stock single piston FB caliper. I'm about to put it together tonight and test it
