BLACKFOOT, Idaho � An assistant track and field coach at Idaho State University was one of three people who were electrocuted in an irrigation ditch � the coach after apparently trying to rescue a dog and two others who went into the water in an attempt to rescue her.<br />
Bingham County officials found the bodies Thursday about three miles northwest of Blackfoot.<br />
Jacquelyn R. Paulson, 31, of Blackfoot, was reported missing at about 9:30 p.m. when she didn't return from a search for the family dog, sheriff's Capt. Mark Crowley said.<br />
Two Blackfoot men � Michael Lance Hicks, 41, and Preston Keith Tarpley, 49 � apparently went in the water to rescue Paulson and also were electrocuted.<br />
An irrigation pump in the area had shorted out and was sending a current through the water, Crowley said.<br />
Idaho Power Co. shut off the power in the area so rescuers could recover the bodies.<br />
Paulson was going into her ninth season an assistant track and field coach at Idaho State. She was a two-time NCAA All-American in the heptathlon at ISU and competed in the event in the 2004 and 2008 Olympic Trials, finishing eighth in 2008. She also competed internationally.<br />
&quot;She was the pride of our program,&quot; said ISU head track and field coach Dave Nielsen. &quot;She was like a daughter to me. This is so untimely and tragic that I just don't know what else to say.&quot;<br />

So, even though I don't have a cage on my bike yet, I tend to do a clutch up every once in a while. I don't try to hit bp or walk it for days, just enough to try to stay used to feeling the front end come up. Anyway, I decided to go dick around this past Monday. I was riding along, second gear, chased one down the street. Decided to set it down cause I was gaining speed. Well, when I stopped, I made a few adjustments to my person so as to be more comfortable, so I stuck the bike in neutral for a minute. Needless to say, when I took off again, I for some reason thought I was in second and clutched it like I would. I was in first. Didn't loop, but it got WAY up high and the back end just slid to the left some. I hit the brake and set the front end down, but I had gotten thrown off the side of the bike and it was dragging me. I tried to climb back up on, but when I did I stopped intentionally locking my throttle wrist. So of course, throttle wound up wide open, and the bike just disappeared out from under me. Wasn't too bad though, I wasn't really going fast or anything. However, I didn't have my jacket on so my forearm got a bit of rash on it, nothing serious, just missing a few layers of skin. Cracked my stator cover though.<br />
