This is going to be interesting, alot of people have different opinions on this. I prefer rebound tight, back out the preload and start with the compression at the softest setting and work from there

I get my suspension revalved bt RG3 Suspension.they change calving for a more progressive and controlled feel. That's the best option.
If you can't afford suspension tuning.. Then it's hard to say exactly how to dial in a bike because weight diffrences in riders and bikes and riding style.
Myself, coming from dirtbikes I prefer the more controlled feel. Some prefer the fork to slam down to bottom and ride basically on the bumpstop. (fully compressed)
The worst thing is there's do many people with improperly turned suspension and people who get bad advice of adding thick weight fluids and the like.

so u are sayin u get the shims adjusted so the front will drop kinda fast at first to transfer the weight then step down from there for better control
now when it comes to the rebound does that really come into play once u have the forks compressed

+10000^^^^^^^^^IMO this is the best starting point for stock. add more compression damping to match the speed of your stoppie pick up (or pre load )to give you a better feel on the come up. with the rebound your just trying to get rid of the bounce or hop while you are rolling, which is why most people usually have it set pretty slow or hard. spring preload on the firmer setting will give you less dampening or feel from your rebound valving

Sending my forks to race tech......they build the best shit!!
I like for my forks to plant and stay there, no rebound or any other crap. I like them to slam down and sit lolol

yup!! Not having the EXACT same set up from fork to fork will really screw things up. but weight and set up is everything IMO

nothing wrong with running thicker fluid
it allows you to have a nice slow rebound and gives you more adjustment on your preload , the more you tighten down your preload the less effective your rebound settings are so a thicker fluid lets your rebound work even with a tight preload setting ..
another little trick is to adjust your air gap , it gives you the same effect as changing your spring rate with out needing to revalve your forks , air compresses oil doesnt so making the air gap a little smaller is like getting a stiffer spring and making the air gap bigger is like having a softer spring ..
after market springs usually completely negate your rebound settings unless you revalve so a slight air gap adjustment gives you the same effect as a rate change but doesnt adversely effect your rebound..

Thicker fluid creates more heat which causes differences from hot n cold suspension and increased chances of breaking down. All of that causes inconsistancy
The slam and sit at bottom that Racetech does is ridiculous in my opinion.
Just as ridiculous as someone saying try solid front forks.. With no suspension.
