The one on my 05 F4i was cool until I cracked my stator cover, but I dropped it pretty hard.

we have had several generations of cages over the years each time getting better.
no cage on earth is going to perfect on every bike , but we would love to get as close to perfection as we can.
keep em coming so that i can take notes and get something cookin son !

I think the f4i design needs to have another support where the cage bolts to the frame using the motor mount bolts.....(where the derlin comes out of it & the main hoop goes under bike) it needs to have anbother strap or support coming from the very front motor mount down by the header.....keeping it from pulling the motor mount bolt out if hit hard.....

the problem with most cages on the market is they loop under the bike. when the bike falls on one side it transfers that energy to the opposite of the bike stressing that mount. pretty much the best style of cage is race rails with a third mount.

The FI cage on my gsxr was hard to remove and install after a few good crashes! And if anything was loose on the cage, well you really had trouble when you drop it!
I decided not to run one on my 636 because of those reasons. Tim is a cool guy every time I talk with him and has always helped me out. I wanted to bounce some ideas off him for some things for 636..... Just ain't had the time to call him back.

custom rails w a third point support and a direct contact point other than the motor mount. Simple shit.
Funny how cage companies come on here looking for "free" insight for how to make cages..
It's fucking common sense to me, unfortunately I havn't aquired much of any fabrication skills or I'd just make my own. All they have to do is come up with a design, test, make changes, repeat until you get it right for each bike. But of course cage companies don't want to take any time to do some work, whatever kinda works for a quick buck.. gahhhhbage
