was sitting in the back of the truck the other day shooting photos in Tv mode of friends riding and my cameras lens kept automatically shutting, this was my first time using this mode and i want to know why i would have to shut off my camera and turn it back on to open the lense, has anyone else experienced this and what can i do to rectify it? what am I doing wrong as im sure its me more than the camera...during daytime with bright light.....
settings were at:
-shutter speed 1/4000
-ISO auto
-exp comp in the middle at zero
-no flash
-picture style at standard (says for sharp, vivid photos)
-AWB
-auto lighting optimizer at medium
-af mode at one shot
-continuous shooting
-metering mode at evaluative metering
and
-high quality JPEG images
thanks for ay help

strange error man
i never heard of the camera shutting itself down unless thee was some sort of mechanical issue. Does the camera only shut of in TV mode? What about AV or M or P or whtever the other modes are. If it only shuts off in that mode, that strange. Maybe google your problem and see if anyone has the same issue. But i never heard of it before.
IF it shuts off in the other modes as well, you got a technical problem
check to see if your battery is fully charged
check to see if the lens is on properly attached to the body
post up your findings
cheers

Take it out of "TV mode", shutter priority... You're better off shooting in Manual. Or even in Auto depending on what lens you are shooting with.
In shutter priority it's making your camera select the lens aperture. It sounds like the settings you are trying to shoot with are causing extended exposure. If you were shooting on a tripod or something super sturdy it would prolly snap faster.

I had the same problem with a different style camera. You may need a new battery - it may be going bad or your lens is draining the battery. If you are using a lens that you bought separate from the camera body it might not be reading properly which will either drain your battery or cause the camera body to misread the lens causing it to misfire.

I know this may be stupid but could it have been overheating? I had my 7D overheat before but I was doing video.
