Does anyone know of a aftermarket fuel level gauge, or just a low fuel gauge I can install on a dirtbike gas tank?
I want to take my KX450F supermoto on the street, but the problem is there is literally no warning when its about to run out of gas. It sputters and 5 seconds later its out of gas and your pushing....

How bout a trip meter johnny? I know you will do it the right way... But, you could put a trip meter to see how far you travel per tank (test in the lot I guess). I do my trip on my sportbikes and fill up at about 100 miles per trip

That might work and be better then nothing, but I would really prefer a low fuel light...The thing is depending on what I am doing, and how hard I am riding the bike burns more fuel. So trip meter may still land me running out of gas....
Riding dirt bikes on the street here is illegal, and there is no way to convert and register it anymore where I live...So if I get caught because I ran out of gas, I would loose a bike I just spent $20,000 on to buy and build....
If I cant find a low fuel light kit I'll try the trip meter

Isn't there a res mode on the petcock or is it only on/off?
If it's only on/off maybe you can switch to one with on/off/res so you when you run of out gas just flip the petcock and have gas for some extra miles?

I just always fill up my DB before i muck around on the street, i know i got about 3 hours till i should start watching petrol. My watch is my fuel guage

No helpful info i'm afraid... Only thing i can think of is a transparent tank to make watching the petrol level easier

I think Clark racing makes clear oversized tanks for the newer fuel injected bikes.
Could also install a sight glass

johnny. you might be able to put something like this through the bottom of the tank. you could raise it up to like an inch before empty and connect it to a warning light.
