Here in Fr, by insuring a bike with engine numbers only is ok.
Called my insurance and they told me it was ok, even for border crossing.

As long as you have an insurance, they are supposed to check if numbers are matching with a legit bike or a stolen one, from there you're ok.

I'll be getting one for sure when mine cracks, that looks SO MUCH better than stock ones!
