i hear ya and i started the same way but every time the first bend hit the ground really hard like a pancake or some thing like that it moved in so i added the extra piece ..

i also did some thing a little different, to keep all the force from being put on the all thread instead of making the mount at the swing arm bolt just a flat piece i made it a 90* so it not only sat flat on the frame but it also sat against the side too ..
