Go with Stock weight oil.... I believe is 5W or 10W. You have to make sure they are completely drained, too much oil will also make them a lot more stiff... you have to have it pretty close to the factory specs ML amount... Forks are very touchy... I seriously doubt its the springs...

Well I may try and replace the fork oil today but everyone that has looked at it agrees it is too stiff.
