If I remember correctly, Yamaha has been selling 2 strokes long after everyone stopped but all the R and D money is getting poured into 4 strokes, because of the push from our government to do away with 2 strokes altogether.
When 4 strokes were new to the supercross and out door motorcross series they were pigs, two strokes got the lions share of the R and D money back then. Had they kept working on the 2 strokes, the 4 strokes wouldn't be winning. A 250 2 stroke is capable of making more power than a 4 stroke 450 when all things are equal. |
