So I'm trying to remove my stock piston from my rod to install an 88 kit and I can't get the pin to slide out of the rod. Any suggestions? I have tried hammering it out with a socket and a hammer but its not budging

I'm guessing you took the clips out on each side before you tried to push it out ?
Did your engine lock up or get super hot , and that is why you are going to a big bore kit now ?

yeah make a little press tool with a piece of all thread and a few sockets and a few nuts and then crank the nut down and should push the pin out same way a clymer book suggests ive had to do it and it worked on a different bike
