2007-08 ZX6R Riders Look Here & Post - Highstyles - 10-25-2009
So, i've been finding all the little things that are wrong with this bike and fixing them slowly, the worst part about this bike i've found is the tank, i've ripped the bottom out of 2 tanks already because of how it wobbles back and forth. I've fixed it finally with some rubber pad and Krazy Glue, it's perfect now.
I didn't notice any difference when i did the exhuast jumper mod, but when i read it it said it would be in the higher rpm's so.. what ever its done...
Stomp Grip on the sides of the lower part of the tank really helped, i only notice now that i have redone the bike and it isn't there, i'm sliding around everywhere now. It helped alot for sitdown O's and No hand sitdowns, no hands are almost impossible now, if you dont' have it or haven't tried it its definitly worth it.
so, if you haven't got the point of this post yet, post up any mods or little things that you have found helped, or didn't help when you did it to your ride. I absolutely love this bike, i've ridden pretty much ever type of bike out there, granted it does take a minute to get used to the power difference, but once you find it, this bike was make for whoolies!! So lets help out eachother and work out some of the little things.

right on mr. high styles.
... the tank thing yes is a must. those factory little pads dont do shit for the 4 minutes they might stay in there... one thing off the top of my head that i've done was relocated my rear brake resi under the seat. thats just because i broke the bracket, so its tucked away, dont really know if theres any benifit. i hope everybody has done the kleen air mod, i learned a very valuable leason with that one time... i'll stay tuned into the thread

... you got a pic? ( kleen )did you just loop a longer hose from the crank case to the airbox?

this little white plug in the pic comes off the factory pair valve. that i took out. i tripped it by putting a staple in there so my f i light wouldn't flash when i had my gauges on still..
just make sure you plug up the holes on the air box. any other question ask. sorry for the crapy pics they were on my cell phone.... but yeah basically run your crank case breather hose up to your valve cover. and disable the factory pair valve... many ways to accomplish this, this was my way tho..

gas tank must have the rubber but they always fall out.. I had the entire tank bracket welded to my gas tank and its super strong now.
I reinforced my fame at the front main cage area mounts.
The bikes had a recall for the valve cover gaskets blowing but if you dont jump your breathers correctly then they will just keep blowing from the pressure.
if your riding the 07 models then you MUST get the "Kit Tensioner" from Kawasaki to fix the cam chain tensioner issue. I ignored the issue because i ride several different bikes and eventually it caught up with me and the chain melted the guides and the plastic clogged the pickup. So do it..
I love this bike but yeah it definitely lacks a little bit of power at times compared to my 09 or the 03-04 models
The only thing i had the most problems with was the brackets that come down off the subframe and mount to the pass pegs.. soo weak. But they fixed that issue this year.

good posts, my first problem was the radiator tabs are made out of paper lol. so those broke off and i had a buddy make a stronger cage for it. i may add a dual fan for next yr! i cracked the left side engine mount so the frame i have for it now is getting reinforced like styles did.
i did not go anything with kleen air mod - i am going to be replacing the valve cover gaskets before spring because my ride leaks alot of oil from them.
i never heard of the "kit tensioner" either , but ive had no problems there ?
also as far as the gas tank. well im some what lazy so i took two pieces of wood ( they were moldings from the wall in my house so had a wedge type angle) and i put them between the frame and tank and it was fuckin solid!! hahah
i have a powers subcage and no bar on the back. im keeping the sub cage i think that thing is amazing! im going to be buying a round bar for next season though!

i just got my cam chain tensioner in the mail today... i'll let you all know how that goes when i get that put on.... you guys that haven't done the kleen air mod. have either of you noticed oil in your air box or that little catch bottle on the left side of the bike?
so i guess the first must do for our bikes is the tank
