Hot wire an F4i????
Posted by: CHILI - 01-03-2012, 06:44 PM - Forum: Help and How To - Replies (16)

So one of my good friends recently bought his first bike. 2003 F4i with 2006 banana seat subrame and plastics. Nice bike for a first bike. Came outside early one morning to go to work and the bike was gone. Cable was cut. Luckily, the theives did not succeed and left the bike on the other side of the parking lot, where my buddy found it.

The bike was damaged in the process of being stolen. Gas cap had been pried open and the gas cap ring broken into 4 peices, banana seat was off and they had broken the latch to the seat- (looked as though they were trying to mess with the battery), top triple cracked in half nearly and the bolts that hold the ingition cylinder in are all stripped out and the ingition cylinder housing broken, and they had cut the wires to the ignition.

There are 4 wires on the ignition. Red with black, Red, Blue, and Pink. They had the Blue and Pink exposed and had the Red wire and the Red with black wire twisted together. And the battery was dead.

Is that even the proper way to hot wire an F4i??? Did they attempt to remove the ignition and then cut the wire when removing the ignition failed?? Why the hell would you pry the gas cap open and mess with taking the seat off to get to the battery???

Just wondering what the theives were doing exactly. (If they were smart, they would have just cut the cable and loaded it into a truck; at least i would)

I might be looking at a ktm 380 to buy to ride some trails and streets here and there with. Anyone ever have one of these before or rode one?

I never owned a ktm or a 2 stroke before but have riden 2 strokes. I think it would be a fun bike.

What's up guys(and gals) I decided to take a leap and take my fairings off for safe keeping of course and throw my girl up on one wheel. I've got some basics down but I'm having a little trouble getting used to a handbrake my fingers feel cluttered I suppose but I'm working on bp and once I get this I feel like the game will have begun. Thanx for reading my short intro and feel free to throw out any criticism or help.
